What to expect: Attendees will be instructed on how to lead groups of volunteers to talk to the local community, informing them about the Medicare for All legislation in Congress, and encouraging them to call their representatives to support it. ORSC will be preparing local volunteers to lead their own Medicare for All canvassing efforts knocking on doors throughout South Carolina, a state which ranks near the bottom in many measures of health. Light food and refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Why Medicare for All? According to an analysis by Public Citizen:
● Medicare for All would save money by reducing administrative costs by $500 billion per year and allowing the government to negotiate for more affordable medicines;
● Medicare for All would cost patients less than employer-sponsored insurance and improve access to community-based services, including home health care;
● A just transition to Medicare for All would ensure that former private insurance workers receive the training and support necessary to pursue new careers; and
● Medicare for All would improve financial stability for rural hospitals and doctors. We are all in this together! United we will win!
Even if you cannot attend, call your Representative at: 202-858-1717 It will prompt you to enter your zip code and then it connects you with your representative’s office. It is that easy.
